Welcome to our website and our gardens. We apologize for the delay in updating. We are now in our 10th full year of sharing our love of hostas and daylilies, along with a few other plants. We’re still as obsessed as always, but have lost half of our growing space, so we have had to eliminate some of our stock in order to add new varieties. In doing this, we have lost count of how many different varieties we now have. We have several new varieties this year, but if you don't see what you want on our list, just ask. If we don't have it, we'll try our best to get it for you.
We are still as particular in our quality of plants as always. And we are saddened by the quality of our plants early because of the freeze. Knowing this, please understand that though the plants will be fine, we are delayed in shipping some plants and things are growing much slower this season due to a late hard, continuous freeze. It set everything back by at least 3 weeks. This past summer was very difficult on us, also, because of the drought. Though we watered continually, it was not enough in the extreme temperatures. It seemed we could not water our vast number of pots and display beds enough to avoid some loss. On top of that, we had to spend considerable time in South Dakota in late summer due to the illness and death of a family member. Then we had the long and extremely cold temperatures over the winter. Through this, we lost some of our large, mature display plants. And even after covering everything through the cold snap in April, we were unable to prevent damage to some of our stock. So please be patient with us, as it will take several weeks to develop new growth for both potted and displayed plants.
Our plants are grown in gallon pots and usually have several plants in each. We try to make sure each pot has several plants, but many varieties sell too quickly and we're unable to keep them long enough. We guarantee our plants to be true to name and healthy when you receive them. Since we cannot plant and water them for you upon receipt, we cannot guarantee them any longer than that.
We welcome visitors to our gardens, but suggest you call first if driving any distance, as we are semi-retired and sometimes decide to "take off". After all, what better reason to take a short trip than to get more hosta. We do ask that you please not enter our gardens when we are not here. This is our home, also, so it drives the neighbors crazy who keep a watch on things for us. Besides, we have had a few of our very large display hosta disappear.
